Distribuzione e habitat

Il genere si trova in tutti i mari e gli oceani tropicali e subtropicali. Nel mwegmar Mediterraneo sono presenti due mwewspecie, entrambe rare, mwfaE. volitans ed mwfqE. obtusirostriscite-ref-fishbase-2-0[2].

Sono mwgwepipelagici e si incontrano sia in acque costiere che in alto marecite-ref-fishbase-2-1[2].

Biologia

Come tutti gli Exocoetidae o pesci volanti sono in grado di uscire dall'acqua e di intraprendere brevi voli per sfuggire ai predatori aiutandosi con le mwigpinne pettorali molto sviluppatecite-ref-fishbase-2-2[2].
